  • Wildfires continue to burn across northern New Mexico State (south-western USA), resulting in at least 15 injured people and evacuation orders.
  • According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon wildfires in San Miguel County have injured six people, damaged or destroyed 282 buildings, and caused mandatory evacuations for about 25,570 residents. The wildfires have burned an approximate area of 59,856 ha and are at 20% contained, as reported by the US Incident Information System (InciWeb).
  • In Colfax County, nine people have been injured and 230 individuals evacuated, after the Cooks Peak wildfire, which has affected about 24,021 ha.
  • The fire danger forecast is mostly extreme on 4-5 May over most of New Mexico, including the areas where the wildfires are active, according to the Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS).

  • A number of wildfires have been burning across New Mexico State (south-western USA), leading to casualties and damage. 
  • According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), five people were injured and 291 buildings have been destroyed after Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon wildfires merged in San Miguel County (northern New Mexico). About 6,830 people have been evacuated, as the complex wildfire event has burned an area of approximately 42,050 hectares, and is at 30 % contained, as of 2 May.
  • Another wildfire event in Colfax County (north-eastern New Mexico) has injured five people, caused mandatory evacuations for 230 individuals, and has affected about 23,900 ha, as reported by the US Incident Information System (InciWeb). 
  • The fire danger forecast is mostly extreme on 2-3 May over most of the south-western USA, including New Mexico, according to the Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS).

  • Several wildfires have been burning since the beginning of the month across New Mexico, resulting in casualties. 
  • According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon wildfires in San Miguel County have injured at least 30 people, and destroyed and damaged about 400 buildings. There are 795 people displaced to shelters, while mandatory evacuations have been issued for about 25,940 individuals. The wildfires have burned an approximate area of 95,886 ha and are at 33% contained, as reported by the US Incident Information System (InciWeb).
  • In Sandoval County, one person sustained injuries, and ten houses were destroyed, after the Cerro Pelado wildfire, which has affected about 17,195 ha. 
  • The fire danger forecast is mostly extreme on 12-14 May over most of New Mexico, including the areas where the wildfires are active, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS).

  • Wildfires continue to burn across New Mexico State, leading to an increased human impact. 
  • Since the beginning of May, the Hermit's Peak and Calf Canyon wildfires in San Miguel County have burnt an area of more than 121,000 ha, injuring 40 people, as reported by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). About 635 buildings have been damaged or destroyed, while mandatory evacuations are in effect for 26,630 people, including areas in Las Vegas City. The wildfire events are at 26% contained. 
  • Another active wildfire in Sandoval County caused one injured person, destroyed ten houses, and affected about 18,445 ha. 
  • The fire danger forecast is from very high to extreme on 18-20 May over most of New Mexico, including the areas where the wildfires are active, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS).

  • Since the beginning of May, the Hermit's Peak wildfire has been burning in San Miguel County (northern New Mexico State, south-western USA), affecting an area of approximately 768,800 hectares. 
  • The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reports that 49 people have been injured, and 2,740 buildings have been destroyed or damaged by the wildfire event. 
    Mandatory evacuations are in effect for 3,411 people, including areas west of Las Vegas City.
  • According to the US Incident Information System, as of 25 May, the wildfire event is 42% contained, while severe drought, high temperatures and strong winds are affecting the area. 
  • The fire danger forecast is from very high to extreme on 25-27 May over most of New Mexico, including the areas where the wildfire is active, according to the JRC Global Wildfire Information System (GWIS).
