Nepal and India, Early September 2022Heavy rain from 09 September 2022 caused landslides and rivers to break their banks in areas of western Nepal and bordering parts of the state of Uttarakhand in India. Media said the Lasku and Mahakali (also known as Sharda, Sarda or Kali) rivers broke their banks, destroying homes in Naugad and Mahakali municipalities in the district of Darchula. As of 12 September 5 fatalities were reported and 10 people were missing. Around 30 homes were destroyed or damaged and one person died in the district of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, India.
