Western Kenya, Early September 2022Flash floods displaced hundreds of families in Kisumu County, western Kenya, following heavy rain from around 07 September 2022. Local media said most rivers have broken their banks, including the Wigwa river that drains into Lake Victoria. As a result the County Department of Roads and Public works began desilting the Wigwa river in Nyalenda on 11 September 2022. Two homes in Manyatta were completely destroyed by the heavy rainfall. No casualties were reported. Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) reported the neighbourhood of Kikopey in Gilggil constituency, Nakuru County, was flooded after heavy rain on 09 September 2022, impacting businesses.Tue 13 Sep 2022FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
