Northern India, Mid to Late September 2022National Emergency Response Center (NERC) and local media in India reported heavy rain affected several states in northern India from mid-September 2022. Media reported 22 people died in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh rains from 15 to 17 September 2022. Of the 22 deaths, 13 were reported from Unnao, 3 from Fatehpur, 2 from Prayagraj, and 1 each from Sitapur, Raebareli and Jhansi. From 21 to 24 September 2022, rain and floods affected around 203,000 people across 12 districts and destroyed 21 homes in Uttar Pradesh. As of 22 September around 35,000 people were displaced, according to NERC. Heavy rain in caused a landslide which damaged a wall of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP) at Gerukamukh in Arunachal Pradesh and close to the border with Assam. Media reported thousands of workers in the area evacuated.
